Allied Workspace completed the project to the agreed schedule, with the Royal College of Surgeons delighted with the finished result.
Single Glazed was the partitioning system of choice for the Royal College of Surgeons new School of Pharmacy located off St Stephens Green, Dublin. Transforming the existing space from ‘shell and core’ condition, the frameless glass partition system with a 33dB(Rw) acoustic performance rating has created a bright and vibrant mix of open plan office and break out areas to meet the growing needs of the department.
The project was interwoven with subtle nods to the discipline of Pharmacy, with the glazing manifestations representing the ten most commonly used chemical structures in modern medicine.
A key feature of the project was the use of self-closing hydraulic door pivot, specifically designed to complement frameless glass doors. It has a satin stainless steel finish which gives a modern and professional aesthetic, while having the built-in flexibility of adjustable closing and break speeds.
Supplied with a five-year guarantee, the door is tested to British Standard EN1154, which verified a durability of 500,000 cycles. Suitable for use with 10mm and 12mm thick toughened glass doors, it can withstand a maximum door weight of 100kg and height of 3000mm, dependent on the ironmongery used, which offers architects and specifiers considerable flexibility.
