RCSI’s new €80m medical education building, 26 York Street, represents a vision for a world-class educational facility that will put RCSI at the global forefront of innovation in healthcare education and training.This state-of-the-art facility, over 10 floors – six above ground and four below will provide medical students, surgical trainees and staff with modern cutting-edge facilities that will promote the development of the RCSI community at the heart of the city.
Working closely with Henry J Lyons, Allied in partnership with CP Lockers designed solutions for all areas using a mix of Cambio, Evolo and Caddix Lockers.
Each area and user type had their own specific needs and we were able to meet the majority of the user requirements with standard product and then for those who has requirements that were not met by standard products we designed specially sixed and specified units.
The Evolo lockers were mild steel carcasses with steel doors with Digilocks for high levels of security for the personal belongings. The Caddix lockers are extra large units and were the perfect solution for the sports teams to house basketball, hockey, tennis, football etc sport’s clubs equipment. We visited many sites to get all the solutions correct when specifying pre tender stage and it was golf Club fitouts that inspired the use of the Caddix range to suit sports teams rather than having to design special units.
Our largest caddix locker size is 1252mm high x x826mm wide x 1100mm deep. A perfect solution for the RSCI sports team’s equipment storage needs. The size coupled with a coded Digilock means each team can know the code for their own equipment, thus avoiding the need to share keys etc.
The main areas were designed using Cambio lockers, galvanised bodies and compact laminate doors, suitable for wet and dry areas, so used in main open plan student zones as well as in the shower rooms. We faced the plinths with matching laminate in many areas and in others we raised the lockers onto plinthed benches. Cambio was designed in runs of 3 tier, 8 tier laptop charging lockers, Z lockers and special luggage units with extra wide doors. The lockers were fitted with RFID locks to match the RCSI access system. Allied work with all lock manufactures where the client has specific needs and we prep the doors accordingly.
An amazing award winning project to be part of and a stunning finish to every floor. Our lockers were colour coded to match the surrounding interior in most cases, giving the over all look a very striking finish when you enter each space.
