Congratulations to the Ballymena Health and Care Centre for receiving a RIBA / RSUA regional award! Allied Workspace contributed as one of the contractors on the highly esteemed project.
The entire project is 8000m2 The clinical departments are split across two floors and organised around the main arrival space, a large atrium and an open courtyard. This assists the building users’ orientation and allows natural daylight and ventilation to the large number of cellular spaces that make up each department.
This project adds to an important collection of healthcare buildings in Northern Ireland, exemplary projects that are models of design and procurement. The award recognises that such projects are particularly challenging given their technical and logistical complexity and, in this case, the need to integrate into an established urban context.is the first major healthcare project that the collaborative architectural team consisting of Hoskins Architects and Keppie Design have delivered for the Northern Health Trust through the PCCI Framework for Northern Ireland Health Estates. The centre opened to the public February 2016.
